Cookie Policy

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember things between one page and the next — that you are logged in, or that you have something in your cart.

This page explains which ones this site uses. It sits alongside the Privacy Policy, which covers everything else.

The cookies this site sets

Strictly necessary — the shop will not work without these

These come from WooCommerce and WordPress and are set whether or not you have an account.

  • woocommerce_cart_hash — remembers what is in your cart. Expires when you close the browser.
  • woocommerce_items_in_cart — remembers whether your cart has anything in it, so the header can show the count. Expires when you close the browser.
  • wp_woocommerce_session_ — links your browser to your cart data on the server, so your cart survives a page reload. Expires after 2 days.
  • wordpress_logged_in_ and related WordPress cookies — only set if you log in to an account on this site. Most visitors never get these.

These cannot be turned off without breaking the cart and checkout.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (through the MonsterInsights plugin) to see how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets two cookies: _ga, which tells one visitor apart from another and lasts up to 2 years, and _ga_C7QP8HPLN6, which keeps track of your current visit and also lasts up to 2 years. You can block or delete these in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising

This site does not run advertising and sets no advertising or retargeting cookies of its own.

Cookies set by other companies

Some pages embed content from other services. Those services can set their own cookies the moment their content loads, and I have no control over them.

  • YouTube — the player on the BullyMusik.Ent Hub page and on some product pages. The player is only loaded when you click to play, so if you do not press play, YouTube’s cookies are not set.
  • Spotify and Apple Music — these are links out, not embedded players, so they only apply once you follow the link to their site.
  • Amazon — the Amazon Affiliation Store page links to Amazon. Following one of those links lets Amazon set its own cookies, including one that records that you arrived from this site so that any commission is attributed correctly.
  • Social platforms — following a link to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or Linktree puts you on their site under their rules.

Each of those companies publishes its own cookie and privacy policy, and those are the ones that apply to their cookies.

How to control cookies

Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. The settings are usually under Privacy or Site Settings:

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Safari — Settings → Privacy
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking all cookies will stop the cart and checkout working. That is not me being difficult — the cart physically cannot remember what you put in it without one.

Most browsers also have a Do Not Track setting. Google Analytics does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, so this site does not currently honour them. You can still opt out using the browser settings or the Google opt-out add-on described above.

Consent

You can block or delete any of these cookies at any time using your browser settings, as described above. Blocking some of them may stop parts of the store, such as the cart, from working.

Changes

If the cookies this site uses change, I will update this page and the date at the top.
